3D Modeling
I begin by listing all necessary project assets, then describe and sketch my ideas. I sculpt or model using various software based on style/complexity. For printing, I export to a slicer; otherwise I texture in Adobe Substance Painter.
3D Printing
I start by creating 3D models, adjusting tolerance, and then exporting as a .stl for slicing. Using slicing software, I add supports, set size, and arrange items for printing. I primarily use an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra Resin Printer for smooth, detailed 12K prints. For larger or less detailed items, I use a Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro. Post-printing, I remove supports, cure, and sand.
Animation
My animation process begins with sketching an idea and gathering all necessary models. Next, I arrange the scene, incorporating lighting and effects to enrich the visual. Once these elements are perfected, I prepare the moving models through weight painting and rigging. Finally, I focus on motion design, integrate the last assets, and refine any remaining details.
Graphic Design
I began graphic design in VIS 41: Design Communication, learning poster creation with Adobe Creative Cloud. I further developed these skills during my internship at Muir College at UCSD, designing posters and flyers for events and maintaining brand consistency. I continue to practice and refine my graphic design craft by creating graphics and poster mock-ups.
Game Development
I develop games using Unreal Engine. My journey began in VIS 143: Virtual Environments, creating VR games with my own assets. This led to an internship at UCSD's Qualcomm Institute, where I contributed to Nanoverse. An educational VR experience about the Covid-19 Vaccine, using the Unreal Engine and a mix of Fab.com and self-made assets. I continue personal projects to stay current with Unreal Engine updates.
